1. Book Reviews

The G Spot and Other Recent Discoveries about Human Sexuality, by Alice Ladas, Beverly Whipple, and John Perry (Holt Rinehart & Winston, 1982;  pb, Dell, 1983, (and others).

Still one of my favorites! But then, I'm probably biased. John Perry 5/22/99

The Good Vibrations Guide: The G Spot by Cathy Winks. (San Francisco: Down There Press, 1997).

On the one hand, this is a pretty good and easy synopsis of the original G Spot book, and includes some subsequent new information.  But I do resent the theft of material from my 1984 essay on Kinsey's Primitive Psychology without credit; worse yet, pretending to have done the original research [footnotes 10, 11 & 12].   In fact, many of the book's references are to secondary sources, rather than the original or first mention.

And the section on pelvic muscles is full of errors.  Most offensive: the claim that "Dr. Kegel developed a series of simple exercises..."(p. 41).  In fact, Kegel didn't do "Kegel exercises"; he did biofeedback.  The exercises now baptized with his name were created by nurses who either didn't know how to do his biofeedback, didn't have his instruments, or both.  This section is dangerously misleading.  Still, Down There Press has good intentions, and is worthy of support.  Reviewed by John Perry, 6/16/99  Rating: wpe1E.jpg (875 bytes)wpe1E.jpg (875 bytes)wpe1E.jpg (875 bytes)

2. Movie Reviews

Oh My Gush  (Odessy Group: Michael Bruno)

The show's intended thrust, to "spread the word" on female ejaculation isn't totally successful IMO. It has more erotic appeal than Fanny Fatale's quasi scientific production, but there is no formal educational or instructional content. In the final analysis it is a collation of low budget scenes which include women having apparently genuine orgasms, in some of which they ejaculate.  [click here for complete review] - Reviewed by Setch, 6/2/99 rating: wpe1E.jpg (875 bytes)wpe1E.jpg (875 bytes)wpe1E.jpg (875 bytes)

    The Gusher (Stevi Secrets)

A believably attractive couple in their own bedroom ... great camerawork showing her pushing out as she cums ... unashamedly a Couples Film, it conveys the raw sensuality of Alex and Andrew.
